Professional Apicoectomy Procedures
In an apicoectomy surgery, an incision is made to the gum tissue to expose the bone and inflamed tissue. After the damaged tissue and the root tip are removed, a root-end filling is put in its place to prevent any infection in the root before the gum is sutured. The bone naturally heals around the root over a period of months, assisting in restoring tooth function. There is an approximate 70% success rate with an apicoectomy surgery. Dr. Kern is one of a few oral surgeons who do this surgery. Call 816-373-0800 for a consultation.
